Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- ¾ cup butter (170 grams), softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
To Prepare
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth
- Beat in eggs and vanilla, then stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt
- Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C)
- Roll out dough, ¼ to ½ inch thick, on sugared or floured parchment paper
- Cut into shapes, about 1 inch apart, with any cookie cutter, then remove the scraps from around the shapes
- Slide the cookie-topped parchment paper onto ungreased baking sheets
- Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven and cool completely on a wire rack
- Glaze with sugar cookie icing
