A Thanksgiving essential!

Ingredients

    • 1 whole turkey, uncooked
    • 1 T flour
    • 2 tsp celery salt
    • 2 carrots, chopped
    • 3 ribs celery, chopped
    • 1 large onion, chopped
    • butter

To Prepare

    1. 2 days before you bake the turkey, move it from the freezer to the refrigerator (to thaw it slowly)
    2. Rinse the turkey and remove the giblets
    3. Place flour in a “bake-in” bag, shake
    4. Make a bed of carrots, celery, and onions in the bag
    5. Place the turkey on the bed
    6. Butter turkey breast and legs
    7. Sprinkle with celery salt
    8. Tie the bag and pierce with a fork several times
    9. For an 8 to 12 lb turkey, bake 325 degrees for 3 to 3½ hours. For a 3 lb turkey breast roast, bake at 325 degrees for about 2 hours (until inner temperature is 170 degrees).
