A Thanksgiving essential!
Ingredients
- 1 whole turkey, uncooked
- 1 T flour
- 2 tsp celery salt
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 3 ribs celery, chopped
- 1 large onion, chopped
- butter
To Prepare
- 2 days before you bake the turkey, move it from the freezer to the refrigerator (to thaw it slowly)
- Rinse the turkey and remove the giblets
- Place flour in a “bake-in” bag, shake
- Make a bed of carrots, celery, and onions in the bag
- Place the turkey on the bed
- Butter turkey breast and legs
- Sprinkle with celery salt
- Tie the bag and pierce with a fork several times
- For an 8 to 12 lb turkey, bake 325 degrees for 3 to 3½ hours. For a 3 lb turkey breast roast, bake at 325 degrees for about 2 hours (until inner temperature is 170 degrees).
