Ingredients

  • Steamed Bun Dough
    • 55 grams butter, melted
    • 30 grams (¼ cup) corn starch
    • 40 grams (⅓ cup) custard powder
    • 55 grams (½ cup) flour
    • 55 grams (¼ cup) sugar
    • 3 eggs
    • 1 1/8 cup milk (or soy milk)

To Prepare

    1. Mix corn starch, flour, sugar, and custard powder
    2. Add eggs (one at a time, mixing thoroughly before adding the next)
    3. Melt butter and add to mixture
    4. Stir in milk
    5. Steam mixture for 18 minutes (stirring every 6 minutes)
    6. Allow mixture to cool, pour into plastic bag, and knead the bag until the mixture is smooth
    7. Refrigerate for 5 hours (or overnight)
    8. Wrap the bun dough around the filling and steam per linked instructions
