“My Book is better than yours!”
What am I learning?
*to make thoughts about a book
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I can suggest a book to others and give reasons why it’s a good book
Activity description/steps:
1. Choose your own story to read. This can either be a book at home, a book on EPIC books or a book from Storyline Online.
2. Create a poster advertising this book. It needs to include
the name of the book
the author
a picture that represents the book
3 reasons why other people should read this book
You can create your poster using paper and pens at home or on Canva.
4. Upload either a picture of your poster or your Canva poster to your Class Dojo Portfolio.
Extra for Early Finishers:
Look at the books that other students have recommended. Choose one to read. Write a reflection to that student on their book. Did you like their book as well? Why / why not?
Instrument Families
What am I learning?
*which instrument families instruments belong in!
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I have watched the clip
*I have guessed what families the instruments belong to
Activity description/steps:
There are so many instruments that get played in brass bands, rock bands, orchestras, productions and dramas. We started learning about some of these at the beginning of term 1, but now is a good time to recall the instruments we know, and learn the names of some new ones!
While you’re watching this clip your challenge is to decide which instrument family the different instruments belong to and to write it down.
How many did you get right?
Share your answers and your score on your Class Dojo Portfolio!
Extras for early finishers:
Research the number of woodwind, brass, percussion and string instruments that belong in each family. Create a list of the different instruments in each family! Share this doc on your Class Dojo Portfolio.
Cups of Water
What am I learning?
*to use Maths and reason to solve a problem
How can I make sure I am successful?
* I have shown the ways I tried to solve the problem
Activity description/steps:
Challenge: Place 6 cups in a row/line. The first 3 have water in them, the next 3 don’t.
By only moving or touching one cup, you need to rearrange the order so that it goes in this order: “filled, empty, filled, empty, filled, empty.”
Time yourself doing it and share the video on your portfolio. Challenge another member of your family and see how quickly they can do it.
Extras for early finishers:
Make a video to explain to someone how to solve the problem. Share with your teacher (and only your teacher, so you don’t give away the solution!)
