Activity description/steps:
Go for an Autumn walk with your family (down your street, in your backyard) and collect as many leaves as you can.
When you get home, arrange these leaves into groups (it’s your choice how you group them). It may be on colour, shape or size.
Use your leaves to create a graph / visual image that shows how many leaves are in each group. (One idea could be to set this out like a Pictograph).
Create a video / write a paragraph that explains how you decided to group your leaves and that explains how many leaves are in each group.
Extras for early finishers:
Create your graph using Google Sheets. There are step by step instructions on this website and a video tutorial here. Share your graph with your teacher.
Write a results paragraph that discusses the results. Include in your paragraph
which category was most and least popular
any surprising results
where the most and least common places to find leaves were
anything else interesting you found / did throughout this process

*I have created a dance that is inspired by the story of Papatuanuku and Ranginu
*I have filmed my dance and added it to my Class Dojo Portfolio
Activity description/steps:
1.Warm up your body by following along with this Just Dance
2.Watch this clip about Ranginui and Papatuanuku and their children
3. Come up with a movement that represents each character (e.g. Papatuanuku might be bent over and sad because she has been separated from Ranginui).
4. Create a series of movements that link together all the characters and help to show the story being told .(from beginning to end)
5.Perform your dance to the song from the clip. Video yourself dancing and send your clip to your classroom teacher.
Extra for Early Finishers:
Create a headpiece using household items (paper, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls) that represents all of Ranginui and Papatuanuku’s children (Tangaroa, Tane Mahuta etc.) You could draw the gods or you could use colours like blue and green that represent them. Use your imagination! You could wear this during your video or take a photo of it and upload it to your Class Dojo Portfolio.

*I can act out a variety of words using body language and facial expressions
Activity description/steps:
1. Watch this YouTube video of Kids playing charades. Do you think you could do better?
2. Use this website to generate your words, time yourself acting out words to your family for 5minutes! Skip if they take too long to get it or you don’t know the word.
3. Post to your Dojo Portfolio a picture of the people you played with or a post that tells us how many words your family correctly guessed.
Extra for Experts
Create your own list of Charades words! There needs to be between 12-20 words on your list. What words do you think would be good and fun for people to act out? What words do you think would be fun for people to guess? Make sure your words are achievable! Share your list of words with your teacher on your Class Dojo Portfolio! When class is back, if your list is good enough, they may use it for a class game of Charades!
