What am I learning?
*from my family what life was like for them when they were young
* to rewrite the story and present it back to them
* to include all the main points of a story
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I have found a family member who has told me a story from when they were young
*I have listened to the story
*I have rewritten the story in my own words
*I have presented the story in my own way
Activity description/steps:
1. Ask someone in your bubble, if they can tell you a story from when they were little.
2. Listen carefully to the story and imagine it in your mind as they tell you it.
3. Ask them questions if there are any parts you don’t understand or want to know more about.
4. Ask them if they mind if you rewrite the story in a way that is meaningful and special to you. Be respectful if they allow you to do this, remember this is their story.
5. With their permission present the story in any way you like, comic strip, book, google slide, video recording, puppets and share the story with your family member(s) and teacher.
Extras for early finishers:
With your family members permission publish this story and share it with some peers in your class. Ask them for feedback; what did they like about the story, what did they want to hear more about?
Follow the same process but with a story of your own. It could be from this lockdown or another time you have experienced something different or unusual. Include what you learnt from it.

What am I learning?
*to design and build my own Rube Goldberg machine using household items
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I have planned and designed a working Rube Goldberg machine
*I have written down my reflections on what was easy and what was difficult
*I have shared my machine and my written reflections with my teacher
Activity description/steps:
1.Watch this video by OK Go which shows a Rube Goldberg machine.
2.Make your own Rube Goldberg Machine at home.
To start with, make one using just 1 interaction (e.g. a ball rolling and knocking down dominoes) then build up to two or three interactions. Remember that building these machines takes trial and error, that means you might have to try a few different times to get it right. Keep trying!
Here are two extra videos that might help when building your machine.
How to build a Rube Goldberg Machine
Ideas for simple Rube Goldberg interactions
3. When you’re happy with your machine, film it in action and upload to your Class Dojo Portfolio.
4. At the end write down what you found easy and what you found hard about building your machine.
Extra for early finishers
How many interactions can you make in your Rube Goldberg machine? Could you get 5 or more? Remember, there is no limit!
