Activity description/steps:
Before we start it is important to understand, the times tables can be used in real life. Your parents use their knowledge of times tables to solve counting problems
Look at the times table chart
3. What do you notice about the 2 times tables?
4. Do you notice any patterns? What are they?
5. The purpose of the times tables is to be able to count larger numbers in the quickest time possible
6. Knowing your times tables will help you to work out math problems in your head faster and easier. It will also help you to move math stages so they are very important for you to learn
7. Last term we learnt about arrays and how we used the arrays to count groups of objects faster and easier using our times tables. See below
8. There is no easy way to learn your times table except by practising and memorising them each day and progressively
9. It may be easier to say 2 groups of 4 rather than 2x4 to help you understand what you are counting
10. Today you will start off learning your 2s, 5s and 10s by learning them from your times table chart and completing the maths activities 2 times tables, 5 times tables, 10 times tables
11. You need to write the 2s, 5s and 10 times tables into your work book
12. Stick the multiplication chart near where you sleep and/or in the kitchen so you can look at it everyday

How can I make sure I am successful?
*I read all of the sentences on the worksheet
*I ask questions about anything I am unsure about during the meeting.
*I complete the easiest part of the worksheet first, and return to the challenging parts later.
Activity description/steps:
Check out the file above. It has 4 worksheets that are all different levels.
Take a close look at all four of the worksheets. Select one worksheet for you to complete that will take no longer than 40 minutes. Find a worksheet that challenges you, but you still feel like you can achieve it.
Learning Encounters:
Skip counting, ordering, place value, rounding, number form and written form, basic facts, times tables, division, double digit multiplication.
If you are unable to print the worksheet. Please copy the questions and the answers onto a piece of paper. Think about how you can present your work tidily and show your working.
Share your completed work with your teacher any challenges you might of had too!

What am I learning?
To read with fluency and identify the main ideas/parts of a story/narrative.
How can I make sure I am successful?
Read the story to yourself, then a family member using your fluency skills and retell the main parts of the story.
Activity description/steps:
1.Read the story Poi to yourself quietly in your head and identify any words you don't know. (Write them down if you can and use your syllables or chunks to try and work the word out).
2. Ask a family member to help you with the unknown or hard words.
3. Re-read the story to a family member using your fluency skills (Sounds “nice” and flowing, stop at fullstops and use expressions).
4. Answer the following questions from the story - Who are the main characters, Where is the story set, What is the problem in the story and how is the problem solved? Is there any Moral or Lesson to learn in the story?
5.Record a short piece of yourself reading and pop into your dojo.

*I change the tones of my voice to make the reading more interesting.
*I read without rushing, and attend to punctuation.
*I restart the sentence when I have made a mistake.
Activity description/steps:
Check that you understand the learning intention and success criteria.
Using a video camera, record yourself reading the entire story. Then upload the video to the class dojo, or by emailing your classroom teacher.
You may complete the following questions in written form, or a video recording of yourself presenting your responses.
Questions to complete:
How do you think the theme of responsibility is shown in the story? (30-50 Words)
What would you call the emotion that Kane experienced when the ‘wave of worry flowed through his chest? Explain your answer. (40-60 Words)
There are many examples of actions with consequences in this story. Consequences can be both good and bad. Can you identify some of them and link the action and consequence? (70-100 Words)
Check your have included punctuation and capital letters in the correct places before submitting to your teacher through email and class dojo.

Rewrite a narrative/story and follow the writing process (Generate ideas, Brainstorm and plan)
How can I make sure I am successful?
Rewrite a story using keywords and ideas and know/follow the parts of the writing process
Activity description/steps:
1.Watch the videos on the legend of Tokamotua of Niue to GENERATE IDEAS.
2.BRAINSTORM and get out all of the main ideas and key words you got from watching the story.
3.Use a PLANNING template (attached) to organise your keywords and ideas.

Features of a Narrative
What am I learning?
*to identify important parts or features of a Narrative.
*to practice my handwriting and
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I read the whole story
*I can connect the features of a narrative to the parts of the story.
*I tidily rewrite the entire story, showing where I think each feature is within the story.
Activity description/steps:
Read the text or story twice and make sure you understand what is happening in the story.
Look at the second poster. This shows the features or parts of a narrative.
Identify each of the narrative features from the example.
Rewrite the story in your own handwriting, showing where you believe each of the narrative features are. This could be using a different colored pen, highlighting, using symbols and any levelling methods you may know of.
Check that you have shared both the recording of your reading as well as your rewritten tasks.
