Draw a place that makes you happy
Follow the instructions on a worksheet to make a “happy book”
Activity description/steps:
Did you know that this week is also Mental Health Awareness Week?
Our mental health is all about keeping our minds fit and healthy, just like how we keep our bodys fit and healthy. We can often forget to look after our minds and it is really important that we do because our mental health affects everything we do.
Today we’re going to do an activity that helps us identify and draw our “happy place”. This is a place that we can think about and look at the drawings of what makes us happy in times where we feel sad, worried, angry or lonely.
Read carefully the happy place worksheet.
Think about the things that make you happy.
Follow the instructions of what you need to draw to make your “happy book”. (You don’t have to print out the sheet, you could do the drawings on a blank piece of paper).
Share your happy place pictures with your whānau or teacher.
Extra for early finishers:
Watch this video to find out more about the importance of looking after our mental health.

Visual Art - Chinese Language Week
What am I learning?
*To create artwork in celebration of Chinese Language Week
How can I make sure I am successful?
*Follow instructions
*Create a pattern
Activity description/steps:
For this activity you want to use a big piece of paper. (If you don’t have one, that’s ok!) Just use the whole paper.
You’re going to either google a dragon head you like, or use the template above.
You’re going to trace (I recommend pencil) the outline of your dragon. You’re going to make the body into a spiral shape.
If you have coloured pencils/markers you can then colour it in. (no worries if you don’t!) This is where you create your pattern.
You’re then going to cut it out along the dark lines in your spiral.
Next, you’re going to take the very end and lift it up gently.
Finally, you’re going to tie a piece of string to the tail and hang it wherever you’d like!
Make sure to take pictures of your creation!! Share with your teacher on Dojo and mark off your Work Tracker.
