Activity description/steps:
1.Use the poster on the left to learn about metaphors and similes.
2.Watch the youtube video on the left if you want some extra help recognising metaphors and similes.
3.Brainstorm a list of words under each of these categories, animals, nature, weather, clothing and food.
4.Using the words you’ve brainstormed, practice writing one simile and one metaphor for each category E.g. Under the animal category you might say ‘lion’, a simile could be “He was as fierce as a lion.”
5.You will end up with 5 similes and 5 metaphors
6.Upload your work to your Class Dojo Portfolio or share it with your teacher.

Extra for Early Finishers:
Write a poem using metaphors and similes. Choose someone in your life who is special to you. It doesn’t have to be a parent, it could be anyone. Write a poem using similes and metaphors to describe this person. Use Fathers day poem as inspiration. Proof read your poem and then upload your poem to your Class Dojo Portfolio or share it with your teacher using email.

Activity description/steps:
This is a real competition where you can win big prizes so make sure you follow the instructions and get CREATIVE!
1. Choose which monster you are going to create.
2. Design your monster - what will it look like? Colour? Features? Shape?
3. Choose what you are going to use and make it!
4. Tell us about your monster (does it have a name, how old is it, what are it’s hobbies, favourite food etc). Give as much detail as you can!.
5. Share your monster design with your teacher.
6. Submit your competition entry here. Or ask your teacher to submit it for you.

Activity description/steps:
Use last weeks exercise journal to complete the exercise for today that you had planned
Complete the following questions after your week of exercise
What was a new activity that you tried? Would you want to do this activity again - why / why not?
What was the most enjoyable type of exercise you did this week? What did you enjoy about it?
Was there an activity that you didn’t enjoy this week? Why do you think you didn’t enjoy it?
How many days this week did you manage to exercise? What made exercise hard on the days you missed?
How did you feel after exercising?
Did you notice any differences to how you slept or how you ate on the days you exercised?
