I have used adjectives (describing words) in my writing
I have made my writing interesting
My writing paints a picture of the food I hate.
Activity description/steps:
Write about a food you HATE! Something you find yucky and WHY.
Be as descriptive as you can, tell us what the food is:
What does it feel like? slimy , gooey, cold, bitter….
What does it taste like? Rotten, sour, socks…
What does it look like? Green, mushy, soggy…
Write 3 - 4 sentences on what that food is, be as detailed as you can so you paint a picture in the reader's head. If you think you can write more go for it! Add in lots of descriptive words (adjectives).
Have You Ever?
What am I learning?
*to describe using adjectives
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I’ve used a dictionary
*I’ve used an adjective in every line
*I’ve edited my work
Activity description/steps:
We are going to be writing 2-3 poems today using descriptive adjectives.
When you are coming up with those 3 middle lines to describe the activity, think about how you feel, what you see, where you are. They need to all relate back to the activity you’re writing about.
You will create it using the format below–
Have you ever
The activity as a question
Line with adjective describing activity x3 (2 words)
Ending phrase– try it, don’t do it, good luck, I love it, etc.
Example poems–
Have you ever
Ridden a roller coaster?
Heart pounding
Hands sweating
Wind whipping
Try it.
Have you ever
Gone surfing at Piha?
Sun blazing
Waves peeling
Crystal clear water
It’s serene.
Try using this website to come up with adjectives. If you see a word you don’t know, look it up.
Make sure to share your poems on dojo.

*to calm our bodies and mind
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I have recentered and refocused myself
*I have taken care of my mental health
Activity description/steps:
It is very important that we find time to take care of our mental health. Especially with the chaos of the world around us! Take these next 40 min to just recenter yourself and put your mental health first.
All you need to do is grab a device that can play YouTube. Clear some space and grab a yoga mat if you have one. If not, try using a towel or blanket. Take 3-5 minutes to close your eyes and just focus on your breathing. Try not to think about anything else, just your breath going in, and out.
Now you’re going to watch the yoga video here. Don’t worry if you’ve never done yoga before! This video is for beginners and will teach you all the moves.
Try your best to relax, clear your mind, and just focus on doing the motions. You will feel heaps better afterwards! Enjoy!
Extras for early finishers
Teach someone in your whanau some of the yoga moves!
