Activity description/steps:
In readiness for this problem, the students should have familiarity with each of the following components of mathematics. The problem may be solved with different combinations of these components.

addition of basic fractions (½, ¼)
This activity may be carried out with guidance, or by allowing the student to follow their own method of solution. The approach should be chosen in sympathy with students’ skills and depth of understanding.

Activity description/steps:
Look at the five problems on the Digital Detail worksheet.
Write on a piece of paper, in your own words, what the problem is asking you to do!
Together with family, or on your own, work on the problem you find the easiest first. Record your answers on a piece of paper.
Do you think you are on the right track? Share your work with family and with your teachers. Give it a go!

To make connections between our prior knowledge (of jungles, gardens, and garden creatures) to identify main points, and visualise how the insects and spiders catch and eat their food.

*To readout aloud or in my head
*To figure out the meaning of unfamiliar words using words around them as a guide.
*To answer the questions about the article by being a word spy
Activity description/steps:
Read through the journal story “There's a Jungle In my Garden”,
Make a copy of the google doc,
Jungle in Garden -Comprehension Questions or use to complete questions on a piece of paper.
Answer all questions using FULL sentences.
Have a go at writing the definitions of some of those words too!

Head outside and find some of your very OWN insects in your garden! Once you have found a couple, do some research on those insects and send us some facts you find!

1. Tape sticky side out
2. Place around wrist (leave room to take off when done)
3. On your hikoi / walk with your whānau member, find natural materials
4. Place natural object onto the tape bracelet
5. Upload a pic or video of your completed Nature Bracelet

How can I make sure I am successful?
Find some treasures or natural things in or around the house! It could be anything..get creative!
Lay the item on paper or card and add body part cut outs from magazines so show your thinking
You will be successful if you item looks like it could be real!
Activity description/steps:
Go on a treasure hunt to find extra small pieces that look like they could become:
.. a pair of pants, a top, a hat, a bag or anything else you could wear or carry!
Place it on paper or card then draw or add cutouts from magazines to create figures or parts of figures to go with it!
Make as many as you can and take a photo to record each creation.
