What am I learning?
To use my knowledge of the times tables to answer multiplication problems
How can I make sure I am successful?
Use my times tables chart
Draw images/pictures to help work out the maths problems
Activity description/steps:
1.For the last few weeks you have been learning your multiplication. Keep practising this knowledge will thrust you into stage 5 easily!
2.You need to understand that times tables can be reversed e.g. 3x5 is the same as 5x3
3.Lets put our learning into practise by having a go at these multiplication maths problems
4.Remember to refer to your times tables chart to help you when you get stuck
5.You will need to draw the problem in the boxes provided on the worksheet e.g.
6.There are 3 stars in each box and there are 4 boxes.
7. How many stars are there altogether?
Yes, you could skip count these and say there are 12 (Stage 4) BUT we need you to use your knowledge of your times tables 3 x 4 lots of boxes = 12 stars (Stage 5 and higher)

Then play the multiplication card game so you can practise all of your times tables!
You will need to put the jacks and the queens back in the deck.
The Jack will represent the 11 times tables and the queen will represent the 12 times tables

Happy Diwali! Today you will look at the statistics of people celebrating Diwali in the US and use the information provided to solve these questions.

1.Read the text on EPIC about Diwali.
2.Remember and or record key ideas and language about Diwali.
3.Make up and write a very short 3 paragraph story about a family celebrating Diwali.
Extras for early finishers:
Click on the link and read about Diwali and create a henna pattern on your hand. If you don't have henna, trace a drawing of your hand and make one using any other tools you might have. Pencil? Felt tips?

Activity description/steps:
Have you ever experienced name-calling? How did that make you feel?
‘Words’ is a narrative poem where an unnamed student recounts their experiences of bullying at school.
First, read the poem. Once you have understood what the poem is about, record and submit a video of yourself reading the poem. Think back to your own experiences and try to express the emotions of the student in the poem.
Answer the comprehension questions.
"Callum called me a __________". Why do you think the author left the name blank?
"My dumbness spilled into my eyes". Why is the student feeling dumb? Describe what their eyes would look like in this situation.
What did Ms Kelly say to the students? Have you heard your teachers say this before?
Why do you think the author wrote this poem? Who is the poem written for?
How would you deal with name-calling and bullies?

PUBLISH our writing using our best copying from our edited draft, using our best setting out of work and best handwriting

1.Copy our edited draft writing carefully!
2.Set out our work neatly, with a title and neat paragraphs.
3.Use our BEST handwriting
4.Upload your writing OR email your writing to your teacher for feedback/feedforward

Activity description/steps:
What comes to your mind when you hear “5 seconds until…”?
Today you will create a descriptive writing using the prompt “5 seconds until…”. The prompt can be anywhere in your writing, the beginning, middle or the end, but it must be included!
Think about moments or situations that come to mind when you hear the prompt. Select one idea.
Brainstorm adjectives and adverbs which help describe your moment. Think about the overall emotions or feelings of that moment.
Write 2 paragraphs to capture your moment.
We can't wait to see all the different ideas and moments everyone comes up with!
