Watch the video on symmetry so you can describe what it means
Prepare your paper and pen and watch the instruction video following the instructions CAREFULLY
Colour your amazing piece beautifully and keep it to add to your mum, aunty or nanas Mothers Day gifts on Sunday
Take a picture of your completed art and share it on your Class Dojo Portfolio
Extras for early finishers:
Create another piece of symmetry art using your name.

Paper pens and or pencils and colour IF you have any. If you don’t it also looks really neat just with shaded pencil
Manaakitanga
What am I learning?
*to describe manaakitanga through weaving/raranga for our Whaea
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I can say the karakia for harakeke and cut it the right way
*I can describe in my own words the meaning of manaakitanga
*I can follow the steps for weaving the harakeke putiputi
*I can make a bunch of putiputi/flowers to give to my Whaea on Rātapu (Sunday)
Activity description/steps:
Read the poster with the karakia and cutting instructions
Say the karakia and cut the harakeke the right way
Follow the steps for weaving the putiputi and make a bunch if you can. Try and save them for Sunday for your Whaea
Follow the link for the meaning of manaakitanga and think of ways that you show manaakitanga or how manaakitanga has been shown to you
Share your definition and thoughts on manaakitanga with a family member and ask them how they have shown or received manaakitanga
Write your definition and ways you’ve shown it on a Google Doc and post to your Class Dojo Portfolio
Extras for early finishers:
Take some pictures or make a short video of your weaving. Talk about what manaakitanga means to you and post it to your Dojo Portfolio.

Activity description/steps:
1.Warm up with Purea nei and E minaka from last week
2.Click on the link for the new song Ko te Whaea
and sing along
3.Try to learn the song off by heart so you can sing it to Mum, Aunty, or Nana on Sunday for Mother's Day!
Extras for early finishers:
Make a video of you singing the song and post it to your Dojo Portfolio. Try not to let Mum, Aunty or Nana see so you can surprise them on Sunday.
