How can I make sure I am successful?
I have used adjectives (describing words) in my writing
I have made my writing interesting
My writing paints a picture of my chosen character
Activity description/steps:
Your job in writing today is to describe your favourite book, TV or movie character using only words.
To do this task, you are going to need to know what an adjective is. Here is a quick video that you can watch if you need a friendly reminder.
Listen to one of Miss Lepupa’s favourite books - can you spot the adjectives (the describing words)? Listen out for words like hairy, big, and skinny.
You will need to pick ONE of your favourite characters (it could be Naruto, Moana or Spider-Man) and write a description about them. Don’t give away the name of your character! Make your classmates guess.
Read Miss Lepupa’s example for Hairy MacClary:
He’s covered in shaggy black hair that looks as if it’s never been brushed. He has big round eyes and he’s apprehensive about lots of things.
Write 2-3 sentences using adjectives describing your character.
Before you send your work to your teacher, ask yourself if you have used the most interesting describing words.
(Have a look at Miss Lepupa's finished example)
Extra for early finishers:
Type up your writing on Google Docs. Have a go with changing the size of the words, the colour of the words and the font. Can you even add a picture to your Google Doc? Make sure to save your beautiful work and upload it to your dojo portfolio!
