  • Generate ideas from an image on the link

  • Brainstorm the main ideas

Who, What, Where, When, Message and Resolution

  • Brainstorm keywords and describing words/adjectives

Activity description/steps:

This week our writing will be focused around the topic Diwali. Diwali is a religious Indian festival celebrated world wide and usually takes place annually following the Hindu calendar.

It is a time of celebration with your loved ones and friends, often this would include exchange of gifts, lights, fireworks, food and many more. So let’s get started !

1. Study one of the images in this article link here and start generating and thinking of really cool ideas for your story.

2.Start brainstorming your ideas and words onto a piece of paper:

Who (characters), What (the problem that has happened), Where (setting), When (time) , Message (the moral of your story), Resolution (how was the problem in your story solved?), key words and describing words for all of your ideas.

3.Organise all of your brainstorming into a template here or use it as a guide to help you with your ideas that you come up with.

You can use kiddle here to help you search for more words for your story.

V.S

What am I learning?

* To provide a detailed character description of an antagonist.

How can I make sure I am successful?

* I know the difference between a protagonist and an antagonist.

* I have planned and written about my chosen antagonist.

Activity description/steps:

In every story there is a protagonist and an antagonist. The protagonist is the main character, usually the hero who saves the day. An antagonist is the opposite.

Today you will provide a detailed description of an antagonist. Think about your favourite character from a story. Can you think of a character who possesses the opposite qualities? Are there some similar traits shared between the protagonist and antagonist?

  1. Choose one of the templates below to describe your antagonist.

  2. Use the information in your template plan to write about your antagonist. This can be in any genre of writing: descriptive, poem, narrative or biographical.

Use the Character Description template to provide a description of your antagonist. Draw a picture of the antagonist in the middle box.

Use the venn diagram to compare and contrast the characteristics of your chosen antagonist and protagonist. Can you find some similarities they share and does this make you think of the antagonist in a different way?
