What am I learning?
*how to measure perimeter (using a non standard unit of measurement - YOUR FEET!)
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I can explain what perimeter is and how to measure it in our own words
*I can measure the perimeters of rooms in our house
Activity description/steps:
Watch the first 4 minutes of the perimeter video
Draw up a floor plan of your house
Measure each side of each room using your foot. For instance in your bedroom one side may be 10f, another 10f, another 15f and the last 15f
Calculate the total perimeter of each room by adding up the 4 sides (e.g. 10 ft + 10ft + 15ft + 15ft )
On a doc / piece of paper, write out each room in your house and write the perimeter of each room beside it (include the length of the sides to show how you added them together too).
