Equations Maze
What am I learning?
*To solve one-step equations
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I start at the beginning and work my way to the finish line
*I solve each equation correctly in order to follow the correct path
Activity description/steps:
Your goal is to work through each one-variable equation in this fun maze from start to finish!
You will be using multiplication, division, subtraction and addition to solve these equations.
Once you’ve solved the equation, whatever the answer was you’ll then follow that line to get to the next equation. You’ll do this until you make it to the finish line.
You will begin at the “start” line.Your first equation to solve is: 3x=6
It’s your job to figure out what number multiplied by 3 will get you 6. Can you think of what number it is? 2!
You’ll then follow the orange tube with the “2” in it to go to your next equation to solve. From there you get to the equation h + 4 = 12. Once you figure out the answer, that will tell you which equation you’ll solve next.
Make sure you show your work and send it to your teacher!
Extras for early finishers
Go back and solve the equations you didn’t do for fun!

Moose Break in!
What am I learning?
*To read the article and expand on it
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I have read the article
*I understand what happened
*I have written a story between 5-7 sentences
Activity description/steps:
Your first step is to read the article “Moose bursts into a school classroom!” Have a kōrero with someone in your whānau about it.
You’re then going to write about it happening to you, at Glenavon, in your classroom.
How would you react? What would you do? What emotions would you be feeling? Frightened? Excited?
When you begin writing, structure it like so–
Before: What were you doing/learning before the event?
During: What happened/how did the moose burst in? What did your teacher do? What did the students do?
After: How did you feel? Were people scared? Were people excited by the event? What happened to the moose?
If you get stuck, remember your 5 senses– see, hear, taste, smell and touch. Use those to help explain what happened during the chaos!
Get creative! Make it an interesting story that the readers are going to want to read more of. Make it intriguing like they’re sitting on the edge of their seat; they just can’t wait to find out what happens next!
Share with your teacher! They’ll LOVE to read your story and see what happened.
