How can I make sure I am successful?
-Read a number story
-Understand what maths skills we are going to have to use (+ or/and -)
-Use our math skills to answer the questions by showing and explaining our strategies
Activity description/steps:
1.Click on the link to open the number stories DO NOT LOOK AT THE ANSWERS YET.
2.Read the questions sentence by sentence and work out what math skills you will need to use.
2.Use your addition and/or subtraction skills to answer the questions.
3.Show and explain HOW you answered each question to a family member.
Extras for early finishers
Write 1 or 2 math stories for a family member to solve. Use family members' names and real life things in your life.

To understand how the y axis and x axis can help us with coordinates.

- I understand the steps to read the x axis then y axis to follow coordinates.

Santa is travelling all over the world this Christmas BUT there’s a problem!
You need to draw out his coordinates so he can start to navigate his way!

What am I learning?
To make meaning of historical ideas.
How can I make sure I am successful?
-I can identify the main ideas connecting to Christmas.
-I can research their history and how they came to be.
Activity description/steps:
All around the world, every kid looks for the white bearded man in the red and white suit to visit their home on the night of Christmas eve. What I always wanted to know is...how did Father Christmas come to be? Where did the idea come from? Who was a part of his family?
You are going to be a detective to identify Santa and his crew by researching the history of where these ideas all started!
Whether it be elves, the scrooge, or the fact that you were told he likes milk and cookies - we want to get answers!
When you discover some interesting facts - design a few slides as a google presentation to share with the class!

3.Follow this structure to ensure you have special and meaningful messages in your Christmas letters/cards.

Activity description/steps:
You are given the role to do storytime for your younger friends at night time.
The thing is...you haven't really told a story before! What would you say? Hang on - Christmas is near! You could use Santa’s storytime roll out Christmas line to put a twist on your version to entertain them!
Look at the sheet below and get creative when filling in the blanks. Ensure that the words you put in makes sense and fits the overall picture.
Dont forget to read your writing out loud to see that it makes sense!
Use the same template and use some different words for a second draft - choose the story that best entertains you!
