Activity description/steps:
Since you’re now experts in writing numbers in Te Reo Māori, we’re going to level up.
There are four different levels in today’s questions. Try to make it to at least Level 2! (Level 3 & 4 are extras if you want a challenge so don’t worry if you don’t get up to them.)
COPY down in Te Reo the questions on a piece of paper (you might want to do this level by level).
TRANSLATE the Te Reo Māori Kupu (words) into the correct numbers. If you don’t know your numbers from 1-20 you can use this to help you. For example question 1 in numbers is 1 + 6 =
ANSWER the questions in number form. Complete level 1 & 2.
MARK your mahi. Use this answer sheet to mark your work.

Activity description/steps:
Ms. Shannon has just moved here from America! She doesn’t know about New Zealand culture and the importance of Te Reo Māori. In celebration of te wiki o te reo, it’s your job to write a persuasive piece to convince her it’s VERY important!
Discuss and brainstorm with someone in your whānau.
Think about why it’s important to you.
Think about why it’s important to Aotearoa.
Plan your writing. Each paragraph should focus on a different point.
Begin writing! Make sure to include te reo words, punctuation, paragraphs and persuasive language.
The goal is to write a solid amount. (3-5 paragraphs)
Share with your teacher on your dojo portfolio when you’re finished and mark it off on your Work Tracker.
BONUS: Share with Ms. Shannon so she can learn the value te reo has on you, as well as Aotearoa.

It’s been a tough time for many people throughout Aotearoa, especially Tāmaki-makau-rau (Auckland). How about we send some positive vibes and encouraging messages to fellow kiwi’s!
Your goal for today is to use uplifting Māori sayings and create--

Take photos of yourself creating letters with your body!
