Lockdown Time Capsule
What am I learning?
*to find and record memorable stories and information from the COVID-19 lockdown
*to create a time capsule
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I will find and decorate a time capsule
*I will follow instructions and include the correct information in my time capsule
* I will send a photo of my time capsule to my teacher
Activity description/steps:
We are living through a very unique time in history. Imagine how interesting it would be for you to remember in the future all the things you did during this time.
Find a jar, an empty shoebox or any other empty container. Decorate it. This is going to be your Time Capsule.
Include some supermarket receipts with a story about what the supermarket trips are like (what foods are hard to find?, what do you have to do to prepare for the supermarket?, how is it different to what supermarkets were like before?)
Interview your family and ask them these questions and record the answers on a piece of paper to include in your capsule.
*What is something you have learned during quarantine?
*What is something new that you’ve tried?
*What do you enjoy the most about staying at home?
*What are you looking forward to after this?
Here are some other ideas of things to include in the time capsule
*Cut outs from the local newspaper
*Write out your daily routine
*Drawing of who is in your bubble during this time
*Any physical objects that will remind you of this time (plastic gloves, face masks etc.)
*A list of your current favourite things (movie, book, food, things to do, song)
Before you put everything inside, take a photo of everything you’ve included and upload to your Class Dojo Portfolio. Keep your time capsule somewhere safe to look at again some time in the future.
