Activity description/steps:
Read about Sesimani’s tapa cloth with your teacher. Look carefully at the pattern she has made.
Read these questions, and think about how you would answer them. Talk about this with a family member or class mate. Compare your answers, and theirs. Are they the same?
1.How many striped triangles would there be for pattern four? How about pattern 10?
2.If Sesimani wanted to make a long border, how many striped triangles would there be for pattern 50?
3. What is the rule for triangles?

Activity description/steps:
Record a video of yourself, reading the poem with fluency, expressions and confidence.
Explore and Read the glossary anr write down the words and their definitions.
Create a visual glossary, with each word - its definition and an illustration to go along with it. Then teach someone 2 new words from your visual glossary.

Activity description/steps:
This is a topical story for NZ, as we have just had our water ownership changed by the Government. This story talks about a struggle for an important resource- our water!
Answer the questions on the attached worksheet and please submit to your teacher.

Brainstorm/Generate Ideas

To generate ideas and brainstorm to help us write a piece of persuasive writing
How can I make sure I am successful?
Think carefully about how you feel about a topic
Brainstorm ALL of your ideas and keywords onto a piece of paper (at least 10-20 words and ideas)
Activity description/steps:
1.Watch the video on what is persuasive writing

Should the Government give children free computers and internet during COVID?
2.You are going to be writing to the NZ Minister of Education, Minister Hipkins. Brainstorm ALL of your ideas and keywords you can think of that will help you to persuade him.
3.Ask a family member what they think about your issue and ideas and ask them if they can add on any more words or ideas to help you PLAN tomorrow.

The Ocean
What am I learning?
To describe the ocean
How can I make sure I am successful?
You will write a paragraph describing the ocean using powerful, interesting adjectives and verbs.
Activity description/steps:
Describe the beach in a positive way using affirming adjectives (to help whaea Suzie) or describe it in a way that shows it as strong, and relentless.
Remember you want to give the reader a picture in their mind of the beach. We want INTERESTING adjectives for this writing.
Examples
The sound of the rolling waves lapping against the sand gets faster and faster.
The water thrashes against the rocks and its lumps grow bigger and wilder in perfect time.
