What am I learning?
To identify the mean, median, and mode of a set of numbers.
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I know what mean, median, and mode each stand for
*I refer to the directions in the orange box when I get stuck
*I am using the correct formulas to find out the answer for each one
Activity description/steps:
First, start with a game of “21” with your whanau to get warmed up.
Today, you’re going to be finding the mean, median, and mode of numbers in a data set. You’re first going to read through the directions in the orange box before you begin answering the questions.
Remember what they each stand for:
Mean:is the average of the numbers in the data set.
In order to find it, add all of the numbers in the data set up, divide by the amount of numbers in the set, and that’s your answer.
Median: is the middle number.
To find this, write the numbers from lowest, to biggest. Starting at both ends, start crossing the numbers out until you get to the middle number. If there are two numbers in the middle, find the mean of those numbers.
Mode: is the number that appears the most.
Look at your data set and see what number appears the most. If they all appear the same amount, then write there is no mode.
Go through each data set with these rules in mind. Make sure to show your work and send a picture of your completed sheet to your teacher.

What am I learning?
*To read for comprehension
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I have read the poem twice
*I have noted the words I don’t understand
*I have answered all the questions
Activity description/steps:
After you’ve read the poem once, I’d like for you to read it again. This time underlining any words (at least 5) you don’t know and looking them up as you go. On a sheet of paper, write the definitions and use them in a sentence.
As summer quickly approaches and the days become warmer and longer, you’ll start to spend more time outside. This might look like going to the beach, for a walk, to the pools, camping, a lot of different ways. After you’ve read the poem twice, I’d like for you to think back on a time that you went outside with your family for a trip or for the day. Close your eyes and try to imagine it. Once you’ve had a big think about it, write 5-7 sentences describing your adventure.

Diamante Poem
What am I learning?
*To create my own synonym diamante poem
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I have chosen two words that are synonyms
*I follow the directions for each line
Activity description/steps:
Your job today is to create a synonym diamante poem! Remember, synonyms are two words that mean the exact or nearly the same thing.
Remember these few rules when it comes to writing a diamante–
Diamantes are 7 lines long.
The first and last lines have just one word (these will be the two words that are synonyms). The second and sixth have two words. The third and fifth lines have three words. And the fourth line has four words.
Lines 1, 4, and 7 have nouns. Lines 2 and 6 have adjectives. Lines 3 and 5 have verbs.
It’ll look like this–
Noun
Adjective, adjective
Verb, verb, verb
Noun, noun, noun, noun
Verb, verb, verb
Adjective, adjective
Noun
In this example, the words “Monsters” and “Creatures” mean the same thing, so are therefore synonyms.
Monster
Evil, Spooky
Howling, Shrieking, Wailing
Ogres, Witches, Frankenstein, Ghost
Flying, Scaring, Terrifying
Creepy, Crawly
Creatures
