What am I learning?
To revisit a numeric table to illustrate a pattern
How can I make sure I am successful?
Use a diagram to make a pattern
Continue the pattern and make a diagram to show the value
Activity description/steps:
Yesterday you were learning how to use a diagram to make a sequential pattern. Today, you will be doing the same thing with another sequential pattern.
What do you notice about the patterns below? Write down your thoughts on paper
Use the pattern provided below, draw the next pattern
Now think about what is happening? Write the rule for the pattern
How many Lego pieces are there in each diagram?
Now, draw a table similar to what you did yesterday here, to help you represent the pattern
Continue the pattern up to Diagram 10. How did you work this out?
How many lego pieces would be in Diagram 20? How did you work this out?

Turkey Riddle
What am I learning?
*To solve a riddle using multiplication, division, addition and subtraction
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I solved each problem correctly
*I have plugged the correct letter into the riddle
*I have showed my work
Activity description/steps:
Why did the police arrest the turkey? It’s your job today to figure out the answer to the riddle!
Each problem has a letter under the blank space. Your answer for that blank space, will tell you where in the riddle that letter will go.
Let's do number one together 27 + ____ = 45
U
In order to solve this, you would subtract 27 from 45…
45 - 27= 18
Awesome! 18 is the answer. Do you see that the letter “U” is under the blank space? You’re then going to look at the riddle below and find 18. You’re then going to place “U” in that blank spot above 18.
This is how you will solve the riddle.

Charlie Browns Thanks Giving!
What am I learning?
*to listen and recreate your own Thanksgiving feast
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I read along while the book is read to me
*I pay close attention to details
Activity description/steps:
Today we’re going to listen to a book about Thanksgiving!
Typically on Thanksgiving you have a big feast with all your loved ones and talk about all that you’re thankful for from the past year. Your feast might have turkey, a sweet potato (kumara) dish, bread rolls, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie for dessert! Yum!
All you need to do is listen to the story. Take notes on anything you’d like, because you’re going to create your own Thanksgiving meal with friends and family!
Once you’ve listened to the story, have a chat with someone in your whānau about what you would include for your Thanksgiving feast. And what you think was the take away message in Charlie Brown’s story?
At the top of your page, draw a picture of what your feast would look like. Did you notice how Charlie Brown set up his table? What decorations would you have?
Include a list of all the food you would have. It can be anything you want! Draw some in the picture.
Who would be there? Think of the people you’re most thankful for.
Get creative! This is your first Thanksgiving meal! Make it however you want.
Finally, write 2-3 sentences about your thanksgiving feast underneath your picture.
Extras for early finishers:

Thankful Writing
What am I learning?
*to create a list
*to use descriptive adjectives
*to reflect
How can I make sure I am successful?
*I have used descriptive adjectives
*I have written at least 5-7 sentences
Activity description/steps:
It’s Thanksgiving in America! It’s a day to give thanks for all the good in this past year. I know it’s been a tough year, which makes this even more important. It allows us to realize, reflect and see that there have been good things happening!
So, have a big think about this past year. What things, moments, people can you think of? For your template you’re going to make a hand turkey. Trace your hand on a sheet of paper and in the middle you’re going to write “I’m thankful for…” and on each finger write what you’re thankful for (at least 5). This can be anything! For example: Miss Shannon is SUPER thankful for Glenavon school, her family, her cat, summer time, & Rūma Nikau kiddies making her laugh during lockdown. It can be anything!
Once you've brainstormed and have 5 things, you’re then going to write 5-7 sentences. One sentence per item explaining WHY you’re thankful for that person, place, thing, moment, etc. Make sure to use descriptive adjectives throughout your writing! Check out the list above and see if you can use any.
Once you’ve done that, make sure to take a picture and share with your teacher (especially if they’re one of the items)!
Extras for early finishers:
Decorate your turkey hands just like the picture!
