What is pop art?
Pop art was meant to stand out to the person that was looking at, for example an advertisement. Pop art even made its way to comic books, we got DC comics and about Marvel.

History
The 1950’s was only shortly after world war II. This meant that the world was still dealing with the effects of this war, and used pop art to express their views and opinions on world events..
The US was working through the civil rights movements.
The Korean War began in 1950.
Elizabeth II became the Queen of England. She was therefore the subject of many pop art pieces at the time.
The world went through a lot of political changeovers and wars during this era.
Arts World
People were getting sick of traditional artistics styles and movements and so some artists decided to rebel against the standard styles and techniques by pushing boundaries and experimenting to make pop art.

By creating paintings or sculptures of mass culture objects and media stars, the Pop Art movement aimed to blur the boundaries between "high" art and "low" culture. The concept that there is no hierarchy of culture and that art may borrow from any source has been one of the most influential characteristics of Pop Art.
