CIT Photography

CIT photography students benefit from:

What? Experience a wide range of photographic genres,  including, but not limited to; fashion, advertising, food, travel, architecture, vehicles, documentary, drone, media and portrait photography. Specialise in your chosen field. Learn colour management, technical and creative imaging specialities, motion video and drone photography.

Where? Shooting in studio and on location, field trips, site visits and industry experience.

How? Producing your industry-ready portfolio, receiving mentoring. Once Cert IV is completed, then you move to Diploma.

CIT Graphic Design

Graphic designers communicate ideas and information in visually engaging ways to connect with their target audiences.

As designers, you'll be involved in developing effective visual communication and designs for various clients from a range of industries. Graphic Design courses at CIT are well established and renowned for producing work ready graduates.

Timeframe? 12 weeks, 5-7 hours per week

What? Training for those intending to pursue a career in graphic design but have little experience. Explore fundamental design skills using Adobe InDesign: layout, typography, colour and skills in digital media and publishing.

How? Online. Computer with Adobe Creative Suite Required (discount for education available).

Timeframe? 1.5 years full time. Approx 20 hours per week

What? Application of design theory and practise to interpret, design solutions for a range of designs and client briefs that include typography, illustration, photography and layouts.

Where? CIT Reid

How? Screen and print design. Adobe Creative Suite account included. Required:  Notebook, Visual arts diary (A3), Drawing tools, earphones, image capture devices (e.g. phone camera).

Timeframe? 0.5 years, full-time. Approx 20 hours per week.

What? Refine & extend abilities at developing more complex design concepts, continue to apply skills and knowledge to interpret design solutions and client briefs, including typography, illustration, photography and layouts. Projects may include corporate branding, packaging design, publication design, web graphics, websites, 2D animations and a public exhibition of your work.

How? Assignments, industry visits and deadlines to replicate the working environment. Local industry experience (placements) are encouraged / supported.

CIT Media

Students in this program will use industry-standard software and equipment in specialised facilities, such as a Mac computer lab and a TV studio. They will engage in collaborative projects with peers from various disciplines, mirroring real-world industry experiences. Instruction is provided by experienced teachers with extensive connections in the local media and communications industry, offering a blend of practical experience and theoretical knowledge.

What? This Statement of Attainment will provide the skills and knowledge for entry work as a Camera Assistant, Freelance Camera Operator work OR will give you one element in the package of the skills/knowledge required before applying for entry to the Diploma of Screen and Media CUA51020.

How? Each week, one 3hr face-to-face session and approx 6 hrs off-campus work required, including online and practical activities.

Timeframe? 8 weeks part time. 

What? Two competency units are covered: Basic Vision and Sound Editing and Fast Digital Content Editing.

In Basic Vision and Sound Editing, students acquire skills for basic editing in media production, including material preparation and edits as per production requirements, primarily under the direction of an experienced editor using editing software.

In Fast Digital Content Editing, individuals with some experience learn to use digital tools to quickly edit content for various screen programs, like news, web shows, or current affairs, including more complex formatted programs and feature film rushes.

CIT Interior Design

The Advanced Diploma of Interior Design (MSF60118) equips students with the skills to effectively plan and utilise interior spaces, focusing on space creation, planning, and factors influencing living and working environments. Graduates can work in design or architectural practices.

The Diploma of Interior Design (MSF50218) adds decoration expertise and structural knowledge for residential and retail projects.

The Certificate IV in Interior Decoration (MSF40118) emphasises preparing interiors with a focus on furnishings, finishes, and aesthetics, suitable for roles in retail, decoration, or colour consulting.

Students work in a studio-based environment on real projects with experienced teachers who prepare them for the workforce upon graduation.
