Paper sizes refer to standardized dimensions used for printing and document formatting, ensuring consistency across industries and countries.Â
Each paper size is half the area of the next larger size, so when a sheet is cut in half parallel to its shorter side, it maintains the same proportions.
You can see the dimensions for paper sizes in the diagram.
Our photo printer prints on A1-sized paper. This means that even if you want a smaller-sized print, it needs to be formatted for printing on an A1 piece of paper.
To use the paper most effectively, consider how your print sizes may add up to a total of A1 (e.g. two A3 and one A2 will total the A1 size). See example below.
Paper Sizes A0 to A6 (2024) URL
Example: One A2 + Two A3 = One A1
You will use the templates below to prepare your final prints. Click on them to open the template and then download it to use it.
Decide what sizes you wish to print your photos and how many and determine how they can use the paper most economically. If your final prints take up one and a half A1 pages, find a buddy who has similar so that your and their photos can total three full pages.
Place your photos on the template for the size you want your final photo to be. Use Ctrl+T to transform your photo and drag the white squares to the corners to that your photo fills the full print space. Do not leave white stripes on either side. This might mean that you loose a small part of your photo so decide how to best arrange it.
Once your photo fills the space, use Ctrl+A to select all, Ctrl+C to copy.
Open the A1 template.
Use Ctrl+V to paste your A4, A3 or A2 image on to our A1 template. Repeat this process until you have filled the space. Use Ctrl+T to rotate images as required but do not change their sizes at this stage.
Once you have a completed A1 document, export this is a PDF and email it to john.parson@ed.act.edu.au AND bishworam.adhikari@ed.act.edu.au titled Final Print (Your Name).
