To explain your recreation well, you need to remember two key things.
You should reflect on how you are trying to AIMME for a good photo.
You should consider how to explain the steps you took like a recipe.
This means, you are considering the Audience, Intention, Making, Method and Editing you did to your work. When you think about explaining any of these processes in detail, imagine that I want to repeat them but have never done what you did before. This is where you need to include the same level of detail a recipe would.
For extra help: If you are struggling with Audience and Intention, or you did not do Editing, leave these sections for now. We will have other opportunities to reflect on those ideas later in the term. Try to write a really good paragraph on the 'Make' and 'Method' section at least.
Let's break AIMME down specifically for your Art Recreation. We will do this out of order as the most important steps for you to explain at the moment are Make and Method. Then we will return to the other elements of AIMME if we have time.
Write one sentence or more to explain your subject. What is the most important focal point in your image? Which part should people look at first? You should comment on how you chose this, based on the artwork you were recreating.
Write one sentence or more to explain objects, props or backgrounds (or create a list of items you used, like an ingredients list in a recipe). What else have you included in your image? What setting have you created through the background? How has this helped you to make your image look like the artwork you were recreating?
Write one sentence or more to explain your lighting. What type of light has been used in your image? Natural (outside)? If so, is it sunny or cloudy? Artificial (inside / phone light / studio light etc..). If so, what colour? What direction is it coming from? How does light affect the mood or emotional response your image will have?
Write one sentence or more to explain your camera settings. What settings did you use on your camera? This is in relation to the exposure triangle, which includes ISO, Aperture and Shutter speed. If you shot on manual, you can right click on your image in your Documents Folder on the computer and select 'Properties,' then 'Details' (3rd tab from left at top of Properties box) to see what settings you had your camera on.
Write one sentence or more to explain which compositional tools & colours you used and why. Consider how the compositional tools added interested or matched what you saw in the artwork you were recreating.
Write one sentence or more to explain your process. Is there anything else you could explain about how you set your photo up? Using tripods or timers? Challenges that you faced and solved?
Write one sentence or more to explain what editing steps you took (or create a list of the steps, similar to a recipe). Did you crop your image? Change the colour or lighting? Use layer masks to cut different parts of images together?
Write one sentence or more to explain the reason you edited how you did. How did this help you to match the artwork you were recreating? What meaning were you able to add through the editing that you did?
Write one sentence or more to explain the audience for your photograph. At a base level, you created your work to be seen by me so I could mark it. However, if you were able to add meaning to your photograph and change the meaning, based on the original artwork, you were recreating, consider who would understand this meaning. The audience for the 'Jove Decadent Recreation' was people who were experiencing covid lockdown as they would get the joke and also young people as they were the subject of the original work.
Write one sentence or more to explain the intention behind your photograph. Consider what you want your audience to think about or feel in response to your photo. Also consider why it was made. The intention of a film poster is very different to the intention behind an art photograph. Your intention could be related to the original artwork you recreated.
Remember that intention could be any of the following:
Record an event
Comment on an issue
Capture a moment in time
Reflect an artistic idea
Express a feeling, experience or point of view
Tell a story
Propaganda
Get a reaction from the viewer
