History
The Great Depression was happening in America when the F.64 movement was founded, where over 13 million Americans were unemployed.
In 1932 eleven photographers had come together as a group and created the group the f.64. This was 3 years after the great depression had started.this group was created as a revolt against pictorialism which was used by most photographers at the time and became popular in art in 1885 .During the great depression photography was showing the strength and pain of people during this time.
Arts World
During the 1930’s the art world popularised social realism. Social realism showed the struggles that people were facing during the great depression (social and racial injustice, economic hardship).
Technology
1932 polaroid cameras were invented as well as zoom lens and light meters.
1934 first tape recorder was invented
1937 first jet engine was made
