I acknowledge the Ngunnawal, Ngunawal and Nambri people as traditional custodians of the unceded land I teach on, which always was and always will be Indigenous land. I acknowledge Indigenous history representing the first teachers, artists and creators in what we now call Australia. I recognise other Indigenous people and families with connection to the lands of the ACT and region, and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of this city and this region. I also acknowledge and welcome other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who may be engaging with this learning.
The image on the left is Betty Muffler's 'Ngangkari Ngura' (Healing Country). Betty is an Anangu Pitjantjatjara woman from remote South Australia and the design was included in Vogue's campaign which featured 26 covers dedicated to the theme of hope in 2020. The image depicts an attitude of care for each other and our land that I hope we can all adopt in the ways we teach and learn. Betty described her art:
“Through my paintings you can see my Ngangkari work: watching over people and also looking after Country. My Country. This place is very important — we all need to look after each other and respect our home.”

Hi there! My name is John and I have been a Secondary Education teacher for five years. I have been a photographer for twelve and had a passion for aesthetic, style and design for as long as I can remember.
I have done work as an event photographer, graphic designer, interior designer as well as creating my own photography and art and showcasing and selling this at events. I have a keen eye for fashion and also upcycle furniture and buy and sell vintage items.
As a teacher, I have taught Photography, Media, Graphic Design, Visual Art and English. My hobbies include playing with my cat, Tio, watching films, collecting shoes and doing anything related to creativity or community.
My top value is being willing to have a go at new things and trying the best that you can. I recognise that because we all come with different values, culture, experiences and objectives, this will look different for each of us!
