A visual essay communicates a critical argument through images, text, and media. In this task, you will explore how photographic practice draws on another discipline to communicate meaning to an audience. This task will help you develop critical thinking, interdisciplinary analysis, and visual communication skills while directly informing your creative photographic practice.
Create a scrollable Google Site (visual essay) exploring how photographic practice draws on another discipline to communicate meaning.
Select and analyse significant photographers or photographic projects.
Use AIMMEE as a scaffold to structure your analysis.
Illustrate each AIMMEE element with one key image and / or video (<2 mins) to show movement, performance, or interdisciplinary methods.
Write brief analytical captions for each image.
If you need help setting up your Google site, view this link
Because this is a visual essay, you do not need more than one page on your site (all information should be able to be scrolled through with no extra clicks)
Top Tip: Make Sure to Publish your Google Site and the end of each lesson.
Analyse photographic works through an interdisciplinary lens
Understand how ideas from other disciplines can inform and enhance photographic practice
Apply AIMMEE to evaluate both the production and effectiveness of visual works
Connect theory to your own creative photographic series
To understand how you will be marked, see the rubric provided on Google classroom.
