Diversity for Interest

The principle of variety involves introducing diversity and contrast among elements to add visual interest and engagement. Designers use variations in elements such as colour, shape, size, or texture to break monotony and create a dynamic and compelling composition. By strategically incorporating variety, a design becomes more visually stimulating and captures the viewer's attention, enhancing overall aesthetics and communication effectiveness.
Repetition Suppression
Repetition suppression is a neurological phenomenon that describes how when you hear the same sound or see the same thing over and over again, your brain starts to pay less attention to it (your parents telling you to clean your room perhaps). This happens because your brain becomes more efficient in processing familiar things, allowing it to concentrate on new or important information instead of getting distracted by things it has already seen or heard many times. It's like your brain's way of tuning in to what's new and essential. In design campaigns, when you are creating a variety of designs (e.g. several movie posters), it is important to create harmony (using similar elements that match) but also variety (diverse elements) so that your message is portrayed multiple different and engaging ways.
