Editing - Layer Masks

To edit the pictures together, I used the quick selection tool in Photoshop to select the cat and then I created a layer mask which removed the background. It was easy because I photographed the cat in the studio. I then created a duplicate layer of the city in front of the cat and used the selection tool and layer mask to only select the buildings so they would be in front of the cat and create depth in the photo so it would look real. I used rule of thirds to place the cat and make it look like it was playing with the building.

Editing - Colour

Next, I adjusted the brightness and contrast as well as the hue / saturation to make the colouring and lighting of the cat suit the background city image. Finally, I merged all the layers and then edited the curves and added grain so it would look like it was taken on an old camera. This was to make the edit beleivable and so it would look less Photoshopped.
