Soleus muscle

The soleus muscle is a muscle in the superficial layer of the posterior compartment of the leg. It is deep to the gastrocnemius muscle.

Action: Plantar flexes ankle

Nerve: Tibial nerve

Origin: Tibia, fibula

Insertion: Calcaneus
