Genioglossus m

The genioglossus m. is one of the extrinsic muscles of the tongue.  It attaches to the inner margin of the mandible at the point of the chin, and fans out into the body of the tongue.  It’s main action is to pull the tongue anteriorly.  Innervation is by the hypoglossal n. (CN XII).
