Flexor retinaculum

A thick band of connective tissue that runs transversely across the postero-medial aspect of the ankle or the anterior aspect of the wrist.  Tendons of the muscles of the deep posterior compartment of the leg and anterior compartment of the forearm pass deep to the flexor retinaculum.
