Vestibulocochlear n

CN VIII, the vestibulocochlear n. (or auditory n., or auditory vestibular n.) emerges from the pontomedullary junction and passes into the internal auditory meatus in the petrous part of the temporal bone.  It provides sensory information from the vestibular system (equilibrium, balance) and the cochlea (hearing).
