Palatoglossus m

A muscle that extends from the soft palate to the tongue.  This is the only tongue muscle that is not innervated by the hypoglossal n. (CN XII), it is innervated by the vagus.  The function of the palatoglossus m. is to elevate the tongue, as in swallowing.
