Sphenoid bone

The sphenoid bone is an unpaired bone of the neurocranium that is shaped somewhat like a butterfly in caudal view. Features of the sphenoid include the sella turcica, foramen rotundum, foramen ovale, medial and lateral pterygoid plates, and the sphenoidal sinuses.
