Long ciliary nn

Typically there are two or three long ciliary nn. that branch from the nasociliary n.  They contain somatic sensory nerve fibers that carry general sensation from the eyeball.  They also contain some sympathetic neurons from the superior cervical ganglion that innervate the dilator pupillae m.
