Arachnoid granulations

Arachnoid granulations are small mushroom-shaped intrusions of the arachnoid mater into the dural venous sinuses.  They act as one-way valves and allow CSF in the sub-arachnoid space to drain into the dural sinuses.  The largest granulations are along the superior sagittal sinus, but they do occur in other sinuses.
