The popliteus muscle is a muscle in the deep layer of the posterior compartment of the leg. It runs obliquely from the lateral femur to the medial tibia.
Action: Laterally rotates the femur
Nerve: Tibial nerve
Origin: Lateral condyle of the femur
Insertion: Tibia
