The rectus femoris muscle is medial and the most superficial of the 'quads' group and crosses both the hip and knee joints.

Action: Flexes the hip and extends the knee

Innervation: Femoral n.

Origin: AIIS of the ilium

Insertion: Tibial tuberosity
