Greater and lesser palatine nn

The greater and lesser palatine nn. provide somatic sensory and parasympathetic innervation to the mucosa of the hard and soft palate, and the nasal cavity.  The sensory fibers are derived from the maxillary n. (CN V2).  The parasympathetic fibers are post-ganglionics from the pterygopalatine ganglion.  The preganglionics that go to the pterygopalatine ganglion are from the facial n. (CN VII).
