Inferior concha

The inferior concha is the inferior of the 3 nasal conchae, scroll-like bones covered with nasal epithelium that increase the surface area of the nasal epithelium to facilitate warming, humidifying, and filtering of inhaled air.  The inferior concha is a separate bone, not an extension of another skull bone.
