Levator scapulae m

The levator scapulae m. attaches to the superior medial margin of the scapula and to the transverse process of the upper cervical vertebrae.  It is innervated by branches of C3 and C4, and sometimes by a branch of the dorsal scapular n.  It elevates the scapula and rotates the glenoid fossa so that it points inferiorly.
