Hyoglossus m

One of the extrinsic muscles of the tongue, the hyoglossus m. attaches inferiorly to the hyoid bone, and inserts into the body of the tongue.  The hyoglossus is innervated by the hypoglossal n., and its action is to depress and retract the tongue.
