Pharyngeal constrictor mm

3 sheet-like muscles that together function to constrict the pharynx and therefore initiate the swallowing reflex.  There are 3 pharyngeal constrictors: upper, middle, and lower.  All 3 are innervated by the vagus n. (CN X).
