Stylopharyneus m

The stylopharyngeus is one of 3 muscles that originates from the styloid process of the temporal bone.  It joins with fibers of the palatopharyngeus m. and inserts into the thyroid cartilage.  The stylopharyngeus m. is innervated by the glossopharyngeal n. (CN IX), and its action is to elevate the pharynx.
