Hop High Ladies

West Virgina fiddler John Morris in the parking lot at a festival. (Poor video warning!)

Square tune. Key of G usually.. Two parts. Many names such as, "Did you ever see the devil, Uncle Joe?"

Not to be confused with...

Some people call it "Hop High Ladies" but that can be confused with "Hop High," a different tune with different words. This tune is called "Uncle Joe" or "Did you ever see the devil, Uncle Joe?", or "Did you ever go to meeting, Uncle Joe?" and these names have the advantage of matching the lyrics. This tune is apparently derived from, or is the same as, the much older "Miss McLeod's Reel," also known as "Billy Boy."
