picture1:One day, a mayor was talking with a staff member in his office at city hall. The woman showed a graph about demand for clean energy. It was increasing and the woman told the mayor, “We need to do something.” The mayor agreed with the woman and wondered what he could do as a mayor.

picture2:At a staff meeting, he made a presentation to the staff members. He suggested to build a system using wind energy. He told them that it is important to answer the demand of the citizens and it is good for the environment. The staff member agreed with the mayor’s idea.

picture3:A few years later, the city started making the wind power generators. The staff who works at the construction company showed how they are making the system and showed a construction schedule. The mayor was pleased by the work done by the staff and was delighted because it showed him that the construction will finish soon. They even built a board written, “Coming Soon”.

picture4:Several years later, the staff member told the mayor that the maintenance costs of the wind power generators are increasing. The mayor didn’t think about that. He thought the clean energy only has merits, such as better for environment, can answer citizen’s demand, and don’t have to import the fuel from the other country. But there was demerits too. The maintenance costs are higher compared to the other ways of producing energy. Also, if there wasn’t any wind, the wind power generators will just become a pole. The mayor regretted that he should have thought not only about the plus part but also the minus part of clean energy.

No.2:Yes, I think so. I heard the pollution that the company produces has many bad effect for the environment. By using the clean energy instead of burning fuel, the company can stop the global warming from continuing. The global warming will sink many shallow islands because the ocean level will get higher. I think it is necessary for company to think about the world.

No.3:No, I don’t think so. The voting rate is always getting lower year by year. I heard in other countries, that they take money from the citizens that doesn’t vote as a punishment. I think Japan should do the same thing for the citizens to care more about politics.

No.4:No, I don’t think so. I feel the government uses taxes not for the citizen’s service but for their self. I always hear the news of the government employees using taxes for their private life. I think if the government have to increase the tax rate, they should make sure that it all goes for paying the debt of the country and for citizens.
